Alexandre Mermin was born in Grenoble.
In 1989, his first publications were press cartoons and caricatures in the Grenoble press. It was at the BD exhibition in Charleroi in 1992 that he received the first prize in an international competition that allowed him to publish his first plates.
In 2003, he published Les Brumes de Miroboland with Bamboo and then, on Beka’s scripts, the Rugbymen series. It is from there that he takes the pseudonym of Poupard in reference to Franck Poupard, character of Alain Corneau’s film Série noire starring Patrick Dewaere.
